How we measure this
Every three days we search TikTok for “Smalltown Boy” and “Smalltown Boy dance” and take the most-liked public videos posted between and Oct 27, 2026, up to 30 per search with duplicates removed, then add up their views. It is a sample of how active the trend is, not a count of every video that uses it. Our trend lists rank trends by these recent views and give newer trends more weight than older ones.
We follow each trend for about three weeks after it is added, or until new videos stop picking up views. Source: TikTok public search results, last checked .

FAQ & LIMITATIONS
Smalltown Boy questions & limitations
What is the Smalltown Boy cats trend?
It is a viral AI video format from October 2026. Two cats stand upright on their hind legs: one grabs its head and screams into a wide lens while the other dances behind it, then both dance side by side to "Smalltown Boy", the 1984 song by Bronski Beat, and rush the camera. It recasts a duo clip of two men at a red wooden fence.
How long is the video and what format is it?
15 seconds, vertical 9:16, as a silent MP4 file in 480p or 720p. Add "Smalltown Boy" in the app you post to.
Are the cats in the reels real?
No. Both reels are AI-made, and both are labeled as AI-generated on TikTok. The cats, their moves and the scenes are generated. Your clip is AI-made too, so keep the AI label on when you post.More trends
